Everything About Honda Gx390 Pressure Washer + Pump Servicing

Daniel Dennett • 11 June 2023

Over time we get to understand just how important regular maintenance on our equipment is when it breaks down on the jobs. When your machine is struggling to start and you've got a packed our week of work is usually when the machine starts to cause issues. So in this article I'll go through some of the most common questions when it comes to servicing your Honda GX390 pressure washers so you're equipped with everything you need to know about keeping your machine in top shape so you don't have to loose time and money in the future like we have.

So there are 3 keys parts of pressure washer servicing:

  • Firstly a Honda Gx390 engine Service
  • Interpump 21Lpm gearbox and pump service
  • Interpump 21LPM system check.

How often should you service your Honda Gx390 Engine?

Regular servicing is essential for maintaining the performance and lifespan of your pressure washer. Without regular servicing, small problems can quickly escalate into larger issues, resulting in reduced efficiency and increased downtime.

The first Service needs to be completed after the first 20 hours of use.

Then regularly serviced after every 100 hours or 1 year, whichever comes first

You might be asking, What parts are included with a Honda Gx390 engine service?

The Honda Gx390 has an engine capacity of 1.1L so this is the amount of engine oil that is required. As part of the service the air filter is replace along with the spark plug.

How often should the pressure washer pump and gear box be serviced?

The Gear box and Pump oil should be changed after the first 50 hours

Then the oil should be changed after every 500 hours there after.

The oil is possibly the most important element of servicing most heavy equipment, but this is not to make any other parts of maintenance any less important.

Considering the oil is changed in line with the plan above.

After every 1000 hours, which should be reduced if the machine is under harsh operating conditions such as continuous use the servicing intervals should be more frequent. The Valve assemblies and pump seals should be checked or replaced.

The reactive response to maintenance is more of an amateur response to maintenance which often means you’ll be fixing problems live on a JOB! Just when you should be earning money.

Fixing problem after they’ve occurred is reactive maintenance which can result in increased costs and reduced efficiency… Less profits.

By investing in preventative maintenance, you can extend the lifespan of your pressure washer, avoid costly repairs, keep your schedule on track and ultimately keep your customers happy.
